What's That Mean?

Theatre vocabulary can get confusing. That's why we started "What's That Mean?" to help keep parents and students in the know. Every week we'll post a few new terms for everyone to learn. See below!

THIS WEEK'S WORDS:

Strike: The day of or after closing show, the cast and the crew work together to dismantle the set so that the stage can be used for the next event. Attendance is MANDATORY and this is typically FUN!

Green Room: Pre-show meeting space for Cast, Crew, Stage Managers & Directors. Warm ups for the performance and last minute instructions or “Notes.” Hopefully this room is clean, but it is rare.

Tech Week: The week before the show opens. This is the time taken to get actors and the technicians used to working at night and running the show as if an audience is present. There is a reason you will hear a variety of nicknames for this week, none of which we can appropriately display on this website :)

Curtain Call: The cast bow at the end of a show
